Metro Bus Shelter Photomural Artist Call
King County Metro seeks photographers and artists to create public art for bus shelters. Theme: Show Us Your World – Cultural Heritage.
King County Metro, in partnership with Photographic Center Northwest (PCNW), is calling for artists and photographers to submit images for installation as public art in bus shelters throughout the region. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your work to a broad audience and contribute to beautifying public spaces in King County.
The theme for this year's call is "Show Us Your World – Cultural Heritage," which invites artists to explore personal and cultural identity, connection, and what is meaningful in their lives. While all submissions will be considered, artists are encouraged to interpret the theme through various lenses including:
- Culture, values, and traditions passed down from previous generations
- Contributions of women and gender-diverse people
- Shared bonds within communities
- Personal history, identity, and connection to past, present, and future
The submission period runs from January 12 to February 8, 2026. All entries will be reviewed by a panel of jurors comprising representatives from King County Metro and PCNW, who will select images based on artistic merit, alignment with the theme, and visual impact in public spaces.
This is an excellent opportunity for both established and emerging photographers and artists to gain visibility, have their work seen by thousands of commuters daily, and contribute to the cultural fabric of King County. Selected artists will have their photomurals installed in bus shelters, creating a dynamic public art gallery accessible to all community members.
