Ministry of Culture Art Acquisition Call
Luxembourg's Ministry of Culture seeks visual artists to submit artworks for state collection. Open to Luxembourg and resident artists.
The Ministry of Culture of Luxembourg is launching a call for visual artists to submit their artworks as part of its ongoing policy to support the creative sector. The ministry acquires works of art annually on behalf of the State, with the goal of building and maintaining an important collection that reflects the country's cultural heritage.
The acquired artworks are made available for use in various ways: they are distributed to ministries and government administrations throughout the country, and are also provided on loan to cultural institutions. This initiative serves a dual purpose - it supports living artists by purchasing their work while simultaneously contributing to the safeguarding and enhancement of Luxembourg's cultural heritage.
The call is open to all visual artists who meet the eligibility criteria. Specifically, it welcomes Luxembourg nationals, artists residing in Luxembourg, and artists with proven cultural roots in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. This inclusive approach ensures that both established and emerging artists have the opportunity to have their work acquired by the state.
Each participating artist may submit up to three works for consideration. The maximum purchase price per work is set at 18,000 euros, providing a substantial financial opportunity for selected artists. This pricing structure acknowledges the professional nature of the acquisitions and ensures fair compensation for quality artwork.
For artists interested in participating, the Ministry of Culture's official website serves as the primary reference and submission portal. Artists should visit the website to access detailed submission requirements, application forms, and any additional guidelines or specifications for their submissions.
