Nate The Great Musical - Casting Call

The Growing Stage seeks adult performers (18+) for five roles in this children's musical. Auditions on March 16, 2026.

The Growing Stage, a professional children's theatre company in Netcong, New Jersey, is casting adult performers for 'Nate The Great Musical.' This is an open call for five adult roles that will be performed throughout the production.

The roles include: Nate (boy detective), Annie (African-American girl who loves art), Rosamond (music and cat lover), Harry (Annie's four-year-old brother), and Mom (Nate's mother). All roles are non-union paid positions offering $17 per rehearsal hour, $95 per performance for Professional Contract, and $45 per performance for Emerging Artist contract.

Auditions are scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026 at 7:00 PM at The Historic Palace Theatre (7 Ledgewood Ave, Netcong, NJ). The Growing Stage celebrates and encourages diversity in all productions. Video submissions are accepted until Friday, March 13th as an alternative to in-person auditions.

The production runs May 1-17, 2026 with tech week April 26-May 1. Rehearsals are typically two to three evenings per week plus a weekend afternoon. All cast members are required for all performances with no understudies.

Based on the children's book by Marjorie Sharma, with book and lyrics by John Maclay and music and lyrics by Brett Ryback, this musical follows boy detective Nate as he investigates the mystery of a missing painting. The production is directed by Lori Lawrence with music direction by Melinda O'Neill and choreography by Cari Sanchez.

Note: Netcong is in northwestern New Jersey with no regular mass transportation. The company does not provide housing, so reliable transportation is essential.
