Newport Paper and Book Arts Festival Workshop Proposals

The Newport Visual Arts Center (VAC) and Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA) are seeking workshop proposals for the 29th Newport Paper and Book Arts Festival, scheduled for April 23-25, 2026. This celebration focuses on papermaking and manipulation, surface design, book arts, collage, nature printing, and mixed-media techniques. Artists can submit proposals for one-day or two-day workshops. Two-day workshops run Thursday-Friday (April 23-24), while one-day workshops occur Saturday (April 25). Workshop hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a lunch break from 12-1 p.m. Instructors can teach 8-16 students depending on classroom capacity. Compensation is based on student enrollment, plus instructors receive travel stipends, complimentary lunch, room and board assistance for those traveling over 50 miles, materials fees, and 10% off registration for participating in other workshops. The festival welcomes both traditional and innovative techniques including assemblage, book arts, collage, dyeing, mixed media, papermaking, paper manipulation, printing, specialty binding techniques, and surface design. Multiple proposals from individual artists are encouraged.
