Next Code 2026 Young Artists Support Exhibition
Open call for visual artists aged 20-43 from Daejeon and Chungcheong regions. Exhibition support, grants, and professional critiques provided.
The Daejeon Museum of Art is pleased to announce an open call for artists participating in the 2026 Young Artists Support Exhibition, titled "Next Code." This prestigious exhibition has been supporting creative activities of next-generation artists with ties to the Daejeon and Chungcheong regions since its inception in 1999, successfully introducing and fostering the work of 165 young artists over the past 25 years.
"Next Code 2026" will be held at the main building of the Daejeon Museum of Art in Mannyeon-dong for approximately two months, commencing July 14, 2026. The exhibition represents a commitment to nurturing contemporary Korean artists and providing them with meaningful career advancement opportunities.
Selected artists will receive comprehensive support including exhibition facilitation, professional matching with art critics, fees for critical essays, creative activity grants, and two professional critiques. Additionally, participants will be invited to join the "Young Artists Distribution Support Project," a special initiative scheduled to take place on the museum's lawn plaza in September.
The selection process employs an open call format conducted online, with external experts from the art world serving as judges. This approach has further solidified the exhibition's reputation for fairness and excellence since 2018.
Director Yoon Euihyang emphasized the museum's commitment: "We look forward to the enthusiastic interest and participation of young artists who will become the pillars of contemporary Korean art beyond the region. We will provide a foundation for young artists to grow further not only through exhibitions but also through various museum activities."
This is an exceptional opportunity for emerging artists to gain institutional recognition, develop critical perspectives on their work, and establish themselves within Korea's contemporary art landscape.
