Niobrara NSR 35th Anniversary Open Art Show

Submit original artwork for Niobrara National Scenic River's 35th anniversary celebration. Up to two pieces in any medium accepted.

Niobrara National Scenic River is hosting an open art show to commemorate the river's 35th anniversary in May 2026. This is an opportunity for artists of all levels to showcase their work and celebrate the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Niobrara River region.

Artists may submit up to two pieces in any medium. The park particularly encourages artwork that highlights the landscapes, history, culture, and communities of the Niobrara River. Submissions are organized into four categories: Student (with separate entry criteria), Amateur, Professional, and Ranger.

Historical photographs are also welcomed for a special exhibit section, featuring images from the 1800s to the present that tell the story of the Niobrara River and its surrounding communities. While this category has no prizes, outstanding historical entries will receive an honorable mention.

All accepted works will be displayed throughout May 2026 at the Niobrara National Scenic River Visitor Center in Valentine, Nebraska. An artist reception is scheduled for May 29, 2026. Following the main exhibit, winning pieces will travel as part of a touring show to area libraries within the Niobrara National Scenic River boundary, giving communities along the river the opportunity to experience the artwork throughout summer and fall.

This is a wonderful opportunity to have your work displayed in a prestigious national scenic river venue and potentially reach a wider audience through the touring exhibition.
