NYC DOT Artist Submissions for Murals & Installations

NYC Department of Transportation invites artists to submit proposals for signature event installations and temporary mural projects across New York City.

The NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) is inviting artists to submit applications for two distinct opportunities:

1. SIGNATURE EVENT ART INSTALLATIONS: Artists can submit proposals for art installations at NYC DOT Signature Events, including Car-Free Earth Day and Summer Streets. This Request for Proposals (RFP) invites eligible artists to create installations that will be displayed at these major citywide events.

2. MURAL ARTIST REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS: US-based artists are invited to submit examples of past work for consideration as mural artists. Selected artists will have the opportunity to develop and install temporary murals on asphalt pedestrianized spaces, bike lane barriers, and other designated sites throughout New York City.

The selection process involves shortlisting qualified artists, followed by phone interviews for up to five finalists. Selected artists may be required to develop preliminary design proposals before final project selection.

This is a significant opportunity for local Bronx artists to lead community-based mural projects and showcase their talent in their neighborhoods. NYC DOT Art is actively seeking diverse artists to participate in these community art initiatives.

Both applications are due February 8, 2026, by 11:59 p.m. An informational webinar will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. to answer questions and provide guidance on the application process.
