OC Arts and Disability Festival 50th Anniversary

Call for visual and performing arts entries for the 50th annual Orange County Arts and Disability Festival celebrating creativity and inclusion.

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) is calling for entries for the 50th annual Orange County Arts and Disability Festival, scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026, at MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana. This milestone celebration marks five decades since the festival's first held in 1976, providing a platform for artists with disabilities to showcase their work across multiple disciplines.

The festival welcomes submissions in visual art, music, dance, theater, and writing from both students and adults with disabilities. This year's theme, "Shine On," reflects the golden anniversary and honors the artists, educators, and community members who have contributed to its legacy over the past 50 years.

The daylong festival will feature live performances, hands-on workshops, a community resource fair, and a visual art exhibition. Award-winning animator Dani Bowman, known for her appearance on Netflix's "Love on the Spectrum," will return as emcee, guiding audiences through performances and activities. American Sign Language interpretation will be provided throughout the opening ceremony and stage performances.

OCDE is hosting this event in partnership with Orange County Arts and Disability and is encouraging participation from school districts across Orange County. Participating districts will be recognized with a "Golden Palette" plaque in honor of their commitment to providing arts education and experiences for students.

This is an excellent opportunity for artists with disabilities to showcase their talents, connect with community members, and celebrate the intersection of art and disability representation in Orange County.
