Pageant of the Masters 2026 Casting Call
Open casting call for volunteers to perform in tableaux vivant living pictures at Laguna Beach's Pageant of the Masters summer show.
The Pageant of the Masters is hosting an open casting call for its 2026 production titled "The Greatest of All Time," scheduled for July 9 through September 4. This annual opportunity welcomes hundreds of volunteers of all ages from across the region to participate in one of Laguna Beach's longstanding artistic traditions.
Participants are selected to perform in tableaux vivant (living pictures), which are elaborate recreations of famous artworks where performers must stand still for approximately 90 seconds while dressed and positioned to match the original paintings or sculptures. The 2026 show will feature art selections that were displayed during the casting call event.
The casting call event took place at the Festival of Arts grounds and included opportunities for prospective performers to be measured for costumes and to see the artworks that will be featured in the show. Past participants highlighted the rewarding aspects of the experience, including gaining friendships with fellow cast members and the extensive backstage preparation involving makeup, costume, and headpiece departments.
The event also featured Family Fun Fest activities, workshops conducted by festival artists, face painting for young guests, and live character performances by volunteers dressed as famous artists. Participants who signed up received vouchers for food trucks and had the opportunity to interact with current and past performers.
This is an ideal opportunity for individuals seeking to participate in a unique artistic experience that combines performance, visual arts, and community engagement. Both first-time participants and returning volunteers are welcome to audition.
