Phoenix Library Black History Month Art Exhibit

K-12 students invited to submit artwork celebrating Black history and culture for virtual exhibition

The Phoenix Public Library is accepting submissions for its 2026 Celebrate Black Voices Virtual Art Exhibit, a virtual gallery showcase dedicated to celebrating Black stories, history, and culture through student artwork. This opportunity invites young artists in grades K through 12 to create original artwork that highlights influential figures or meaningful moments in Black history or culture.

Students are encouraged to select subjects that inspire them, whether historical figures studied in school, stories from books, or important cultural moments. The submission guidelines are inclusive and flexible, welcoming any artistic medium including crayon, paint, collage, and mixed media. Artwork must be created on white paper and measure no larger than 11 by 17 inches.

Selected artwork will be showcased in a virtual gallery on the Phoenix Public Library's website from February through December 2026. During Black History Month in February, featured artwork will also be promoted on the library's social media platforms, providing additional exposure for participating student artists.

This is an excellent opportunity for young artists to have their work displayed in a professional virtual setting while celebrating and learning about important historical figures and cultural moments. The exhibition encourages creativity, bold artistic expression, and personal interpretation of significant Black history and culture.
