Principal Residency Program 2027/28

Fully funded 3-month artist residency at La Becque in Switzerland. Open to all disciplines with focus on nature, ecology, and technology.

La Becque Artist Residency, located in La Tour-de-Peilz on the shores of Lake Geneva between Vevey and Montreux, announces its Principal Residency Program for May 2027 through March 2028. This is La Becque's core initiative, offering selected applicants—individual artists, duos, or collectives—fully funded three-month residencies dedicated to sustained inquiry and artistic development.

The program welcomes practitioners from all artistic disciplines including architecture, critical writing, design, film, media arts, music and sound art, performing arts, photography, visual arts, and interdisciplinary research practices. Established practitioners, emerging voices with strong developmental trajectories, curators, critics, and theorists engaged with contemporary cultural practices are encouraged to apply.

Particular emphasis is placed on projects that critically engage with entanglements between nature, ecology, and technology, examining how these domains intersect and reshape one another within contemporary artistic and societal contexts. The residency is conceived as a time for reflection rather than production-driven output, fostering experimentation, critical thinking, and transformation.

Participants receive dedicated live/work spaces, financial support, and access to an extended network of local and international cultural practitioners and institutions. The lakeside property, including its garden and immediate surroundings, forms an integral part of the program's intellectual and sensorial framework.

Selection is made globally by a transdisciplinary jury of experts including Mohamed Almusibli (Kunsthalle Basel), François J. Bonnet (INA GRM Paris), Jessica Ekomane (musician & sound artist), Stefanie Hessler (Swiss Institute, New York), and others.
