Project Grant Program for Arts Organizations
Winnipeg Arts Council grants up to $10,000 for arts organizations and collectives supporting artistic innovation and community engagement.
The Winnipeg Arts Council is inviting applications for its Project Grant Program for Arts Organizations and Collectives. This initiative is designed to strengthen Winnipeg's creative landscape by supporting arts-based projects with strong artistic merit and community impact. The program offers up to $10,000 in funding for projects that advance artistic innovation, foster collaboration, and engage the public across Winnipeg.
Eligible applicants must demonstrate a clear focus on the creation, production, or presentation of artistic work within the performing, visual, literary, film, video, or media arts disciplines. Applicants must be based and active in Winnipeg, offering programs or services that are open to the public and accessible city-wide. Organizations must be registered as not-for-profit corporations in Manitoba, governed by volunteer boards of directors, and have operated as such for at least six months. Artist collectives meeting additional special criteria are also eligible to apply.
The program emphasizes professional standards, requiring applicants to employ qualified artistic and administrative leadership and ensure that principal artistic contributors are fairly compensated. Organizations must demonstrate a diverse funding base by generating revenue from sources beyond the Winnipeg Arts Council, such as ticket sales, memberships, sponsorships, donations, in-kind contributions, or support from foundations and other government levels. Arts service organizations providing development services or networking opportunities for artists may also apply after confirming eligibility with the program manager.
Ineligible applicants include individual artists, for-profit entities, government departments, health, religious, social service, and sports organizations, educational institutions, private clubs, trade unions, and professional associations. Organizations already receiving multi-year operating or program support from the Winnipeg Arts Council are excluded. Additionally, those having received funding from the City of Winnipeg or its agencies or with outstanding final reports from previous grants are ineligible until all reporting obligations are fulfilled.
