Public Art Task Force - Call for Applicants
Town of Andover seeks 7 members for new Public Art Task Force to shape future of public art and creative placemaking in the community.
The Town of Andover is establishing a new Public Art Task Force and seeking dedicated individuals to serve as founding members. This volunteer opportunity offers artists, designers, and cultural advocates a chance to directly influence the future of public art and creative placemaking in Andover. The Task Force will consist of seven members who will advise the Town Manager on critical decisions regarding public art installations, including their form and strategic placement throughout the community. Members will also guide the artistic use and creative activation of public spaces, helping transform ordinary locations into vibrant cultural destinations. The group will oversee the allocation of funds and grants supporting public art and cultural programming, ensuring resources are used effectively to benefit the community. A key responsibility includes promoting community participation in cultural and artistic endeavors, fostering broader engagement with the arts. Task Force members will serve as advocates for public art throughout Andover, championing its value and impact. Ideal candidates include visual artists, architects, planners, educators, or representatives from local arts organizations who bring experience or strong interest in arts, design, and cultural development. The Task Force will operate under the guidance of the Director of Business, Arts & Culture and is expected to begin its important work in late 2025 or early 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for passionate individuals to make a lasting impact on their community's cultural landscape while working collaboratively with fellow arts advocates and town leadership.
