Putnam County Visual Arts Exhibition 2026
7th annual exhibition accepting submissions from local artists. Cash awards available. Deadline May 26, 2026.
The Greencastle Arts Council, in collaboration with the Putnam County Museum, is now accepting submissions for the seventh annual Putnam County Visual Arts Exhibition. This exhibition is open to adult artists who have lived, worked, studied, or were born in Putnam County. Selected artists will have their work displayed at the Putnam County Museum and will be considered for multiple cash awards.
Submission Period: March 17 - May 26, 2026 (applications due by 11:59 p.m.)
Eligibility Requirements:
- Artists must be at least 18 years old
- Must have lived, worked, studied, or been born in Putnam County
- Artwork must not exceed seven feet in height or width
- Up to three art pieces may be submitted per artist
Submission Fee and Benefits:
- $15 application fee
- Includes submission of up to three pieces
- Includes one-year Greencastle Arts Council individual membership
- Invitation to exhibition opening reception
- Optional: artwork may be offered for sale
The exhibition showcases diverse media including metalworking, ceramics, painting, drawing, fiber arts, and more. Martha Opdahl, former director of exhibits at DePauw University, will oversee curation. Anna Stein, assistant curator of paper-based artwork at Newfields (Indianapolis Museum of Art), will serve as this year's adjudicator.

- Professional Development Day: Saturday, April 25, 2026 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) - Free service with professional photography
- Artist notifications: First week of June 2026
- Artwork delivery: Week of June 22, 2026
- Exhibition opening: Saturday, July 11, 2026 (reception 2-5 p.m., awards announced at 3 p.m.)
- Exhibition closing: Saturday, September 19, 2026
- Artwork pickup: Week of September 21, 2026
