Questa Mural Artist Call for Interest

The Paseo Project and 100% Taos County Initiative, in partnership with Questa Creative Council, are seeking mural artists for a new public artwork in Questa, New Mexico, slated for Summer 2026. This is the third collaborative mural project from these organizations.

This initial phase is a Request for Interest (RFI) to identify and build a shortlist of qualified artists. This is not a full proposal stage—organizers are gathering portfolios and learning about interested artists' backgrounds and experience.

The project welcomes muralists or teams with experience in public art and community-centered practice. Shortlisted artists will be contacted with full project details including site information, scope, budget, timeline, and will be invited to submit formal proposals with an honorarium.

Submissions will be reviewed by a community-based jury composed of representatives from The Paseo Project, 100% Taos County Initiative, Questa Creative Council, local artists, and community members from Northern New Mexico. The review panel will evaluate artistic quality and originality, feasibility at mural scale including durability and materials, experience with public art or community-engaged projects, and sensitivity to place reflecting the people, culture, and landscape of Questa and Taos County.

The organization values proposals emphasizing collaboration, storytelling, and community connection. Artists local to Northern New Mexico and those from historically underrepresented communities are especially encouraged to apply.
