Red Deer Galleries Accepting Exhibit Proposals

Central Alberta artists invited to submit exhibition proposals to Viewpoint Gallery and Corridor Community Gallery for 2026-2027.

The City of Red Deer is calling for exhibition proposals from artists and curators working in visual art media. Two city-run galleries are accepting submissions for their annual "Call for Artists" program.

Viewpoint Gallery, located at 5205 48 Ave. in downtown Red Deer, offers 875 square feet of exhibition space with 80 linear feet for hanging artwork. This is an adjudicated gallery where proposals are reviewed by community art leaders and representatives from the City of Red Deer. Successful exhibiting artists receive an honorarium based on CARFAC's Fee Schedule for Exhibitions in Other Public Spaces. Exhibitions typically run two to three months, with one remaining spot available in 2026 and multiple spots throughout 2027.

Corridor Community Gallery, located in the lower level of the Don Moore Recreation Centre, provides nine 24 x 30 inch frames and a display cabinet for ceramic and three-dimensional works. This is an unpaid exhibition opportunity with two remaining spots in 2026 and into 2027. Exhibitions typically run two to three months.

Both galleries welcome submissions from artists working in all visual art media, including sculpture, painting, printmaking, lettering arts, ceramics, fibre arts, glass, fine craft, jewellery, digital art, mixed media, photography, film, video, and performance art. Applicants must be Canadian residents, with preference given to Red Deer and Central Alberta residents.

Submissions are assessed on consistency and quality of work, demonstrated commitment to serious practice, strength of proposed themes, and ensuring diversity of artists represented.
