Redwood National and State Parks Artist-in-Residence

Apply for a month-long artist residency with up to $5,000 stipend in Northern California redwoods. Spring 2025 program.

Redwood National and State Parks is now accepting applications for its spring artist-in-residence program, offering a unique opportunity for creative professionals to live and work immersed in one of California's most spectacular natural environments. This prestigious program, co-managed by the National Park Service, California State Parks, and the Redwood Parks Conservancy, provides artists with stipends up to $5,000 to spend one month creating work inspired by the parks' diverse ecosystems and rich cultural heritage.

The spring residency runs April 1-30, 2025, and welcomes artists of all disciplines including photographers, filmmakers, musicians, painters, dancers, writers, and visual artists. Participants will have full access to the park's remarkable natural landscapes and historical sites, providing endless inspiration for creative exploration.

Participants are required to donate at least one completed artwork to the program and deliver one public presentation sharing their creative process and work with park visitors and the broader community. This dual commitment ensures the program benefits both the artists and the public, fostering deeper appreciation for the park's natural and historical significance.

The program aims to promote artistic exploration while enhancing public engagement and understanding of the parks' environmental and cultural importance. Artists working in any medium are encouraged to apply, whether traditional or contemporary in approach.

Applications must be submitted by December 14, 2025. All program details and the official application form are available through the National Park Service website. This is an excellent opportunity for artists seeking meaningful residency experiences in inspiring natural settings with adequate funding support.
