Rooted: The Art of Trees Exhibit - Artist Call
SMAC invites local artists to submit work for a themed exhibition celebrating trees. Multiple mediums accepted. Runs March 6-28, 2026.
The Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC) is calling all local artists to submit their work for the 'Rooted: The Art of Trees' exhibit. This themed exhibition celebrates trees as sources of artistic inspiration across centuries, representing spiritual concepts such as the cycle of existence, shelter, wisdom, strength, growth, family lineage, and cross-cultural connection.
The artist call is open to creators working in diverse mediums including painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, collage, photography, digital art, ceramics, textiles, and sculpture. SMAC encourages artists to explore unlimited creative imaginings and materials in their interpretation of the tree theme.
The exhibit will be displayed at the SMAC Art Center Gallery located at 7 Downing Street in Hollister, Missouri. An Opening Reception is scheduled for Friday, March 6, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., providing an opportunity for artists and the community to celebrate the work together.
Artists interested in participating must complete an online application form through the SMAC website. The application deadline is February 15, 2026. Selected artwork must be delivered to the SMAC Art Center Gallery on Saturday, February 27, 2026, between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. Two-dimensional works must be ready to hang. Please note that AI-generated work will not be accepted for this exhibition.
