Slightly West of Spokane Artists Studio Tour

Free studio tour featuring 14 artists from Cheney and Medical Lake showcasing various mediums and working creative spaces.

The Slightly West of Spokane Artists Studio Tour is an annual event highlighting local artists from the Cheney and Medical Lake area. Founded in 2009 by painter Janet Wilbanks and potter Dennis Smith, the tour invites the public into artist studios and community venues to view working spaces and purchase directly from artists. This year's tour features 14 artists working in diverse mediums including ceramics, woodworking, fiber arts, jewelry, glass beads, painting, gourd carving, and printmaking. Artists range in age from 16 to those in their 70s, creating a rich diversity of artistic perspectives and styles. The tour spans seven locations across Cheney and Medical Lake, with each venue having its own personality. Participating artists include Michelle Schneider (ceramics), Dennis Smith (pottery/painting), Chris Bradley (woodworking/knives), Nicole Nutt (mixed media), Amanda Shepard (ceramics/polymer clay), Summer Milson (painting/fiber), Rosanne Anderson (fiber/novelist), Ruthie Franks (carved gourds), Alexandria Odjonii (silver jewelry), J. Veda Jones (lampwork glass), Cloie Milson (acrylic/watercolor/fiber), Gayle Havercroft (relief printing), Mia Simonsen (needle felting), and Jeff Harris (pottery). The event emphasizes education about artistic processes and encourages visitors to engage directly with artists. Many locations offer light snacks and a welcoming atmosphere. Visitors who complete the tour at all seven locations can enter a raffle for an appreciation basket featuring work from each artist.
