STEP, REPEAT - Pattern and Design Exhibition

Juried exhibition at Cottonwood Center for the Arts featuring works exploring pattern and design across all mediums.

Cottonwood Center for the Arts is pleased to announce a juried exhibition for the month of March featuring works in response to an open call to the public: STEP, REPEAT. This exhibition celebrates pattern as an artistic, musical, literary, or mechanical repeating design or form that has been employed as an embellishment throughout the history of civilization. Pattern has achieved its own power and meaning in modern and postmodern art, no longer dismissed as ornament or 'women's work'. Contemporary artists are using pattern in innovative ways—abstracting it, magnifying it, making it into subject, or using it to make subversive statements. This open call invites artists to submit works that use a repeated pattern as an intentional, essential element. All mediums are considered and welcome. The exhibition will be on display at Cottonwood Center for the Arts located at 427 E Colorado Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 throughout March 2026. The opening reception and First Friday celebration takes place on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 5-8 PM, featuring two floors of open studios and galleries. Visitors can experience the exhibit during this special event and throughout the month during normal business hours. Previously exhibited works will not be accepted for this opportunity.
