The Shaft Exhibition - Mining Heritage Community Art Show
Non-juried community exhibition celebrating mining heritage in Michigan's Copper Country. Submit up to 3 pieces by Nov 4th.
The Copper Country Community Arts Center invites artists to participate in 'The Shaft,' a community exhibition celebrating the region's mining heritage, held annually each November. This non-juried exhibition welcomes artists to submit up to three pieces exploring the broad theme of mining and its impact on the Copper Country region. Artists can draw inspiration from various aspects including the current landscape, mining structures, how nature reclaims the land, the social impact mining had on the region, mining history, specific historical features, and family stories connected to the mining era. The exhibition provides an excellent opportunity for artists to showcase their work while connecting with the local community's rich industrial heritage. The show will be displayed from November 6 through December 5, with a reception held on Thursday, November 13 from 6-7:30 p.m. during the Party with the Arts event. This community-focused exhibition offers artists a platform to explore themes of industrial history, environmental change, and cultural memory through their artistic practice. The broad thematic scope allows for diverse interpretations and media, making it accessible to artists working in various disciplines and styles.
