Three-Year Studio Extension for Artists
Jersey artists Hayley Gibaut and Sophie Harris receive three-year extension for The Stoodio community studio space through ArtHouse Jersey partnership.
ArtHouse Jersey and Andium Homes have confirmed a three-year extension for The Stoodio, a community studio space located at Cyril Le Marquand Court in Jersey. The studio, run by local artists Hayley Gibaut and Sophie Harris, has been granted continued use of the ground floor space following its successful first year of operation.
The Stoodio has established itself as a thriving creative hub, offering free sessions alongside workshops, exhibitions, and community-led events. The artists emphasize their commitment to using art as a tool to bring people together and strengthen community bonds. According to Gibaut and Harris, the studio was never intended as a one-year project, but rather as a long-term community resource.
The extension affirms the need for dedicated creative spaces within the community. The partnership between ArtHouse Jersey and Andium Homes demonstrates commitment to supporting local artists and creative initiatives. Tom Dingle, chief executive of ArtHouse Jersey, praised the impact made by the artists in their first year, noting that The Stoodio has become a welcoming, creative, and socially valuable space.
Moving forward, Gibaut and Harris plan to expand their programming with additional workshops, exhibitions, and community-led events. This opportunity showcases the potential for artist-led initiatives when provided with adequate time, trust, and appropriate environments to develop meaningful community projects. The three-year extension provides stability for the artists to continue building on their momentum and deepening their community impact.
