Tyrone Guthrie Bursary Award (Ireland)

Four Mayo-based artists awarded fully funded one-week residency at Tyrone Guthrie Centre for creative development and artistic research.

The Tyrone Guthrie Bursary Award offers four Mayo-based artists a fully funded one-week residency at the prestigious Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Annaghmakerrig, Co. Monaghan. This award is designed to provide dedicated time and space for artists to focus deeply on research, reflection, and creative development across all disciplines including visual arts, music, literature, film, and theatre.

The residency includes full board and lodging, allowing artists uninterrupted time to step away from their usual environment, critically reflect on their artistic process, research new creative directions, and gain inspiration within a supportive, professional setting surrounded by a multidisciplinary creative community.

Eligibility requires applicants to live and work professionally in County Mayo and demonstrate significant artistic achievement or strong potential. Examples include published writers, visual artists with solo exhibitions in reputable galleries, and musicians with commissioned or recorded work. The award encourages first-time applicants and artists from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.

Applications are assessed by an independent expert panel based on artistic quality and merit, previous achievements or potential, clarity and value of the residency proposal, and expected benefit to professional practice. Applicants must submit a complete PDF containing a CV (max two pages), exactly six work samples, supporting documents, and a clear project proposal outlining what they plan to accomplish during the residency.
