Victorville City Library Art Bench Design Project

Southern California artists 18+ invited to design a book-shaped bench for the new Victorville City Library. $1,200 stipend plus materials.

The Victorville City Library, in partnership with the Friends of the Library, invites Southern California artists to submit designs to transform an unfinished, book-shaped bench into unique works of public art. The "Dream, Discover, Design" Art Bench Project aims to enhance the new city library's environment while celebrating local creativity and connecting the joy of reading with the power of visual art.

Artists are encouraged to propose designs that reflect themes of inspiration, knowledge, or discovery. The goal is to create a vibrant, functional art piece that sparks curiosity and provides an inviting atmosphere for all library visitors. The completed bench will be prominently displayed at the entrance of the new Victorville City Library, currently under construction at the Green Tree Golf Course.

This is an excellent opportunity for artists to contribute to a community space while receiving compensation for their work. The selected artist will receive a $1,200 stipend to cover project time, labor, and travel expenses, plus an additional $500 for material costs upon submission of itemized receipts. All artists aged 18 and older residing in Southern California are eligible to apply.

The submission deadline is December 5, 2025. Applicants must submit their applications, along with a rendering of the proposed design or samples of previous work, to the provided email address. Detailed submission guidelines and an application form are available on the Victorville city website.
