Viewpoint & Corridor Gallery Exhibition Proposals
Red Deer galleries seeking exhibition proposals from Canadian artists. Two opportunities available with honorarium at Viewpoint Gallery.
Viewpoint Gallery and Corridor Community Gallery, both City of Red Deer-run exhibition spaces, are now accepting exhibition proposals from local and central Alberta artists. This annual 'Call for Artists' provides presentation opportunities for artists and curators working in visual art media.
Viewpoint Gallery, located at 5205 48 Avenue in downtown Red Deer (in the former Intermediate School), offers 875 square feet of exhibition space with 80 linear feet for hanging. Exhibitions typically run two to three months. This is an adjudicated gallery where proposals are reviewed by community art leaders and City of Red Deer representatives. Successful exhibiting artists receive an honorarium based on CARFAC's Fee Schedule for Exhibitions in Other Public Spaces. One remaining exhibition spot is available in 2026 with additional spots throughout 2027.
Corridor Community Gallery, located in the lower level of the Don Moore Recreation Centre, provides nine 24 x 30 inch frames and a display cabinet for ceramic and three-dimensional works. Exhibitions typically run two to three months. This is an unpaid exhibition opportunity with two remaining spots available in 2026 and into 2027.
The call is open to Canadian residents, with preference given to Red Deer and central Alberta residents. Artists working in any visual art media are encouraged to apply, including sculpture, painting, printmaking, lettering arts, ceramics, fibre arts, glass, fine craft, jewellery, digital art, mixed media, photography, film, video, and performance art. Proposals will be assessed on consistency and quality of work, demonstrated commitment to serious practice, strength of proposed themes, and diversity of artists represented.
