WAG Call for Artists: MidWinter Dreams Exhibition
Submit visual art for a February exhibit pairing original artwork with poetry. Open to members and non-members.
The Westport Art Group (WAG) is seeking submissions for 'MidWinter Dreams,' a unique February exhibition that pairs original visual art with original poetry. This creative opportunity offers artists multiple ways to participate in an interdisciplinary show that celebrates the intersection of visual and literary arts.
The exhibition runs from February 13-22, with viewing hours on Friday through Sunday. An opening reception is scheduled for Sunday, February 15, from 1 to 4 p.m., providing an excellent networking opportunity for participating artists and poets.
Artists have three distinct options for participation: They may submit work to be paired with a poem selected by the organizers, create art inspired by a poem provided by local poets, or submit work based on the 'MidWinter Dreams' theme without requiring a pairing. This flexibility allows artists to choose the level of collaboration that best suits their creative process.
A special feature of this exhibition is the artist and poet conversations that will take place during the opening reception and on Sundays from 2 to 3 p.m. These discussions offer participants the chance to share their creative processes and explore the connections between visual art and poetry with the audience.
The call is open to both WAG members and non-members, making this an accessible opportunity for artists throughout the region. The Westport Art Group is located at 1740 Main Road in Westport, Massachusetts, and has a strong reputation for supporting local artists and fostering creative community engagement.
This exhibition presents an excellent opportunity for artists interested in interdisciplinary collaboration and those who draw inspiration from literary themes. The winter timing and dreamlike theme offer rich possibilities for artistic interpretation.
