Weir Farm 2026 Artist-in-Residence Program

Seven month-long creative residencies at historic Weir Farm National Historical Park in Ridgefield and Wilton, CT for emerging and established visual artists.

Weir Farm National Historical Park is now accepting applications for its 2026 Artist-in-Residence program, offering seven selected artists the opportunity to participate in month-long creative residencies at this historic site straddling Ridgefield and Wilton, Connecticut. The application window is open from November 1, 2025, through January 31, 2026.

This prestigious program continues a rich artistic tradition at Weir Farm, where American Impressionist Julian Alden Weir established his studio and lived beginning in 1882. Over the past several decades, more than 250 artists have participated in this residency program, making it one of over 50 artist residency programs offered across the National Park Service.

Residencies will take place between April and October 2026. The program welcomes both emerging and established visual artists who will be at least 25 years old at the time of application. Eligible artistic disciplines include painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media.

Participants will have access to studio spaces, the historic landscape, and the park's rich artistic heritage. The selection process is competitive and juried, ensuring that chosen artists represent diverse perspectives and practices. The program is supported by the Friends of Weir Farm, the park's philanthropic partner, which helps maintain the active artistic presence that is central to the site's mission.

Weir Farm National Historical Park is located at 735 Nod Hill Road and welcomes visitors and artists interested in American art history and creative practice.
