West York Memorial Gallery Art Exhibition

Submit artwork for memorial gallery honoring fallen West York Police Officer Andrew Duarte. Open to first responders and local artists.

West York Borough is seeking artwork for its memorial gallery honoring fallen Police Officer Andrew Duarte, who was killed during a hostage siege at UPMC Memorial in February. The borough is partnering with Creative York to curate a community gallery that highlights creative expression from first responders and local artists.

The gallery aims to showcase works that relate to honoring those lost and the emotions surrounding loss, as well as how art has been instrumental for artists navigating complex professions, critical relationships, and processing traumatic experiences. This is an opportunity for both professional and emerging artists to contribute meaningful work to a community memorial.

Artists may submit up to two works in various media including paintings, drawings, photographs, collages, or mixed media. All submitted works must be wired and ready to be hung. Submissions must be made digitally via email in high-quality JPEG or PNG format.

Each submission should include the work's title, media type, dimensions, file name, and the artist's complete contact information. The deadline for entries is January 15, 2026, with accepted artists to be notified on January 16. An exhibit reception is scheduled for January 22, 2026. Accepted artworks should be delivered to West York's office at 1300 West Poplar Street prior to the reception.
