Works & Process 2026-27 Residencies Open Call

Week-long residencies for NYC-based choreographers and dance companies. Up to 15 awards. $175/day artist fees plus housing and travel.

Works & Process, a non-profit performing arts organization championing artists and their creative process, announces an open call for week-long, out-of-town residencies for NYC-based choreographers and dance companies. The organization produces more than 25 creative residencies annually through a network of over a dozen partner venues across five states: Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont.

Residency support spans the entire life of a project, from initial studio explorations to final rehearsals for premieres and even touring. Works & Process residencies support creative process for companies of eight or fewer artists for seven-day residencies. Each artist receives an industry-leading fee of $175 per day ($1,225 per week), plus 24/7 studio access, on-site housing, travel stipends, and health insurance enrollment access.

Awarded residencies will take place between October 2026 and May 2027 and may be used to start new projects or continue developing existing works. Works & Process has produced 100+ residencies supporting 700+ artists, incubating works recognized with Bessie Awards, National Dance Project grants, and toured nationally and internationally with the U.S. State Department.

Partner venues include The Watermill Center, Guild Hall, Bridge Street Theatre, Modern Accord Depot, ArtYard, and many others across the Northeast.
