Zap 18 Searchlight Call for Artists

Clark County Parks & Recreation seeks up to 3 artists to design and paint utility boxes in Searchlight, Nevada with $4,000+ budget per artist.

Clark County Parks & Recreation's Public Art Office is issuing a call for artists of all levels from throughout Clark County to participate in a special edition of the Zap program. The opportunity involves designing and painting utility boxes in the town of Searchlight. Up to three artists will be selected for this project. Each awarded artist will be assigned 1-3 utility boxes to design and paint, with a budget of over $4,000 per artist, which includes a travel budget for out-of-town artists. This special edition, Zap 18, is part of the broader Zap program specifically designed for Clark County artists who are over the age of 18, are not employed by Clark County, and are not currently under contract for any Clark County Public Arts project larger than $40,000. Previous public art experience is not required, and artists who have participated in previous Zap initiatives are welcome to apply. The Zap program was initiated in 2004 by Clark County Parks and Recreation in the Winchester neighborhood to celebrate the City of Las Vegas' Centennial 100 Murals project. Over the years, the Zap Public Art Series has become an important vehicle for bringing public art to neighborhoods throughout the Las Vegas Valley and Clark County.
