About
Dexter Wimberly is an American curator based in Japan who has organized exhibitions at institutions and galleries worldwide, including the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture in Charlotte, the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, and the Green Family Art Foundation in Dallas. At the Gantt Center he curated exhibitions such as A Superlative Palette: Contemporary Black Women Artists, and in 2025 he curated The Shape of Things to Come at Efie Gallery in Dubai, featuring artists including El Anatsui and Yinka Shonibare. He is a Senior Critic at the New York Academy of Art and the founder and director of the Hayama Artist Residency.
