About
Hiba Abid is the first Curator of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies at The New York Public Library, a role created in 2022. She earned her PhD in Islamic art history and codicology in Paris in 2017 and has worked at manuscript libraries and museums including the Louvre and the Pergamon, where she curated exhibitions on Islamic art. Her research focuses on the material culture and art history of early modern North Africa, with a focus on devotional manuscripts.
