Kara Walker

Kara Walker, primarily known as a contemporary artist, served as a co-curator of the exhibition Monuments at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA and The Brick in Los Angeles, on view from October 2025 to May 2026. She organized the show alongside Hamza Walker, director of The Brick, and Bennett Simpson, senior curator at MOCA. The exhibition presented decommissioned Confederate monuments alongside works by contemporary artists including Stan Douglas and Leonardo Drew.
