About
Stephanie D'Alessandro is the Leonard A. Lauder Curator of Modern Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she also serves as Curator in Charge of the Leonard A. Lauder Research Center for Modern Art. She was appointed in 2017 after working at the Art Institute of Chicago, and is known for her scholarship and exhibitions on early 20th century artists including Matisse, Picasso, and the Surrealists. At the Met she has organized exhibitions such as Surrealism Beyond Borders (2021), Man Ray: When Objects Dream (2025), and Giacometti in the Temple of Dendur (2026).
