CCAA Featured Artist Reception: Dolly Luoma

The Copper Country Associated Artists Gallery in Calumet, Michigan features a new member artist each month, and June's featured artist is needle felting artist Dolly Luoma of Calumet. A longtime basket maker, Luoma turned to needle felting about 15 years ago after arthritis made weaving difficult, and she now condenses yarn and woven fabric into doll-like and animal forms, drawing inspiration from magazines, catalogs, and objects around her. An artist reception runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, at the CCAA Gallery, where Luoma's work is on display near the front entrance. The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday through Saturday.
