About This Event
Marmot Art Space opens its June exhibition, Greyshoes: Southwest Sculptures, with a First Friday artist reception on Friday, June 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. The show brings the stone and bronze sculpture of Upton Greyshoes Ethelbah Jr. from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Spokane. Ethelbah, who draws on his Santa Clara Pueblo and White Mountain Apache heritage, carves stylized sacred animals and fluid renderings of Indigenous dancers, including works such as the S-shaped Corn Dancer and the bronze Apache Crown Dancer. After the reception, the exhibition is open by appointment for the month of June.
