About This Event
Warroad RiverPlace hosts an artist reception for ceramic artist Robin Foster of Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, celebrating the opening of his exhibit The Language of Fire: From Precision to Unpredictability. The open house runs from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 12, with live music from the local bluegrass band Sloughgrass and a chance to talk with the artist. The exhibit gathers 45 ceramic pieces that trace Foster's exploration of clay through a range of firing techniques, from carefully controlled kiln-fired works to pieces shaped by the spontaneous effects of pit firing and raku. Foster, who often works with locally sourced clay from northern Minnesota, was named Northwest Minnesota Artist of the Year in 2007, and his work is part of the permanent Margaret H. Harlow Ceramics Teaching Collection at Bemidji State University. The exhibit remains on view through July 3.
