The Beach in My Backyard: Artist Reception

Gallery 169 in Santa Monica Canyon opens The Beach in My Backyard (State Beach in the Sixties), a photography exhibition by longtime filmmaker and photographer Pat Darrin, with an artist reception from 5 to 8 p.m. The free event includes food, drinks and complimentary valet parking. The images began as casual photographs Darrin took of friends and surfers at Will Rogers State Beach after moving to Santa Monica Canyon as a teenager, and grew into a broader visual record of 1960s California beach culture. Gallery 169 was founded by Frank Langen in 2008.
