Christopher Peterson: Rewilding
About the Exhibition
Rewilding presents new multimedia collages by Christopher Peterson at No Instructions, a gallery in the Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee. The works are built from layered fabric, burlap, and canvas, with brightly painted fibers cut into organic and linear forms. Each piece is an assortment of color and texture, and the handmade ovular canvases play loose, freeform shapes against sharper geometric ones. The title points to Peterson's working method, which favors improvisation and experimentation without a fixed end goal. As Tanner MacArthur, co-director and curator at neighboring gallery Addendum, put it, the artist is really interested in the process, not necessarily the final product. With No Instructions director James Stepanek, Peterson arranged the works across the gallery so that some sit in conversation and others gather in what MacArthur called a little cloud formation. The exhibition opened June 19, 2026, in a joint Friday-night reception with a companion show at sister gallery Addendum. Both run for about six weeks. No Instructions is free to the public, with regular hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
