Corey Pemberton: Living Well
About the Exhibition
Corey Pemberton: Living Well is the first solo museum presentation of Los Angeles-based artist Corey Pemberton, bringing more than 70 works to Mint Museum Uptown in Charlotte. Spanning painting, collage, blown glass sculpture, quilts and fiber arts, the exhibition centers on ordinary living spaces and the ways Black, queer, female and nonbinary people shape their homes with objects that hold respite, personality, memory and ambition. Pemberton's glass works include carefully crafted replicas of everyday commercial objects, from a 40-ounce Old English and a liter of Coca-Cola to a can of Black Magic hairspray, alongside pieces that quote decorative heirlooms. The artist divides his time between painting, glassblowing and community work as co-founder and director of the nonprofit Crafting the Future. Living Well, Pemberton's first solo museum show and catalogue, is on view at Mint Museum Uptown from September 19, 2026 through January 31, 2027.
