Debbie A. Barton

Canal Street Art Gallery introduces Debbie A. Barton, its newest working artist, in a show on view June 19 through August 9, 2026 in Bellows Falls, Vermont. Based in Springfield, Vermont, Barton uses collage, quilting and journaling to reflect a love of rural New England, nature, train travel, vintage fabrics and untold stories. She works with thrifted, dead-stock and otherwise unwanted papers and textiles headed for the landfill, letting their imperfections become part of each piece and inviting viewers to imagine their previous makers, owners and histories.
