Door Prize for Portraiture
About the Exhibition
Chez Cheryl Artspace near Baileys Harbor in Door County, Wisconsin hosts the 17th annual Door Prize for Portraiture invitational exhibit, featuring 33 notable local and regional artists working in a variety of media. Curated by artist Cheryl Stidwell Parker with assistance from her husband, Steve Lavell, the show has grown from just over a dozen artists in its first year to more than 30, and has developed a following of fans who include it in their kickoff to summer. This year's juror, Karen Hertz-Sumnicht, who holds a BFA from St. Mary's College of Notre Dame and has worked as an educator, artist and gallerist, will announce award picks at a party for exhibiting artists the evening before the show opens to the public. Visitors may vote for the People's Choice Award. The exhibit runs June 26 to July 11, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, in a century-old farmhouse that also serves as Parker's studio.
