Francisco Moreno: Historia Sintética
About the Exhibition
Historia Sintética is the first solo museum exhibition of Mexican-American, Dallas-based artist Francisco Moreno, on view at Dallas Contemporary. Spanning two decades of his career, the survey gathers monumental projects that push representational painting into sculpture, installation and performance. It is anchored by three signature works: the WCD Project (2012-2015), a souped-up 1975 Datsun paired with black-and-white camouflage canvas; The Chapel (2016-2018), now in the permanent collection of the Dallas Museum of Art and loaned back for this show; and The Mural Cycle (2024-2026), which showcases Moreno's brand of science-fiction surrealism. Moreno works at the boundary between painting and built space, treating the gallery as a theatrical environment that unfolds across time. Historia Sintética continues through August 30, 2026 at Dallas Contemporary.
