About the Exhibition

The West Plains Council on the Arts presents 'Freedom,' a multi-media exhibition in the Gallery at West Plains Civic Center, on view June 8 through July 17. Part of the national celebration of America's 250th anniversary, the show features 24 pieces of original art by nine individual artists and one group, all from the Ozarks. The theme of freedom is the inspiration for work spanning historical posters, quilting, digital pen and ink, metal sculpture, oil and acrylic painting, photography and mixed media. Featured artists include the Calico Cabin Sew-ciety, Nancy Clayburn, Robb Cox, Jim Davis, Jane Hale, Donna K. Lay, Diane Pence, Sally Robinson, Mark Quentin Wallen and Delores Mercer Winkler. A Meet-the-Artist reception is set for Wednesday, June 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Civic Center lobby. The exhibit is sponsored by the City of West Plains, the Harlin Museum, the West Plains Council on the Arts and Missouri Humanities.
