About the Exhibition

Hawaiian Landscapes: Earth Within Us is a solo exhibition by contemporary artist Taiji Terasaki, on view at the headquarters of American Savings Bank at 300 N. Beretania St. in Honolulu. The collection of paintings and mixed-media works is inspired by the geological forces that shape the Hawaiian Islands and the biological processes that sustain life, drawing out the patterns that repeat at every scale of nature. The exhibition pairs volcanic formations and river systems with blood vessels and cellular structures, suggesting that the branching of rivers resembles circulatory systems, that mineral veins echo neural pathways, and that crystal growth mirrors biological growth. Terasaki frames the work around a single idea, that at every scale matter is organizing itself. Presented by MakeVisible, a Hawaii nonprofit focused on connecting art, science and environmental awareness, the show runs June 16 through October 2, 2026 during regular business hours. Twenty percent of artwork sales support Kupu, a nonprofit dedicated to youth conservation and environmental stewardship in Hawaii. A public reception with the artist is set for opening night, June 16, from 6 to 8 p.m.
