About the Exhibition
A two-part exhibition of new and historic works on paper by Glenn Ligon, featuring richly layered compositions that meditate on the color blue and its emotional, historical and cultural inflections. Drawing on James Baldwin's writings, the exhibition explores how text dissolves into atmosphere and meaning into light. The front gallery presents 'Blue (for JB),' a new series of large-scale works on paper created through rubbings, silkscreening, and water application techniques that oscillate between legibility and abstraction.
