About the Exhibition

The Nicolaysen Art Museum in Casper presents 'Late Nights and Long Summers,' a sweeping retrospective of work by nationally renowned Casper illustrator Zachary Pullen, on view through August. Pullen packed the Nic with some 200 works, including originals from his book collaborations 'A Home for Steamboat,' 'The Rowdy Randy Wild West Show,' 'The Christmas Ass' and 'Among Giants.' Intrigued by all things Wyoming, Pullen portrays the warmth and idiosyncrasies of America and the Cowboy State with a cheekiness he traces to growing up on 'Jaws,' 'Caddyshack' and 'Stand By Me.' The exhibit's title reflects his working rhythm: long nights of commissioned work from October to May, then summers off to recharge. The show, which drew hundreds during NIC Fest earlier this month, also includes his preliminary and final sketches for the Mick McMurry Code of Ethics mural.
