Ode To The Road

Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library in Los Alamos, New Mexico marks the 100th anniversary of Route 66 with 'Ode To The Road,' a Centennial exhibit running June 19 through July 23. The gallery invited regional artists to celebrate the Mother Road, and artists responded with more than 60 pieces. The work on display includes plein air paintings of scenes along Historic Route 66, studio paintings imagining the road's past, and fabric quilts designed in its honor. Participating artists come from across northern New Mexico and beyond, including Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Los Alamos, Espanola and Salida, Colorado. The public is invited to an opening reception from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 20. Step Up Gallery is on the top level of Mesa Public Library and keeps library hours.
