About the Exhibition

The Leesburg Commission on Public Art presents Splotch Monster, an exhibition of work by local artist Steve Loya, on display on the first floor of Leesburg Town Hall in Leesburg, Virginia, through the end of August 2026. The public can view the work during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit features Loya's splotch monster paintings, a series he began in 2009 in which he transforms watercolor splotches into imaginative creatures. Each piece begins as an abstract shape that suggests a new character and a story waiting to be told. Beyond the series, Loya is known for mixed-media work that blends realism and abstraction, with recent attention to non-objective acrylic painting and collage. He lives in Sterling, Virginia. The Town Hall lobby hosts rotating exhibits by Leesburg and Loudoun County artists.
