About the Exhibition

Super-Natural is a group exhibition at the Pine Hills Branch of the Albany Public Library, bringing together a group of artists who capture and transform the natural world into the mystical, pulsing with light and energy. The show runs June 5 through November 7, 2026, with a free opening reception on Friday, June 5, from 6 to 7:30 pm featuring live music by The Dave Gleason and Mike Lawrence Duo. The nine participating artists are Berly Brown, Ginger Ertz, Andrea Hersh, Jenny Hutchinson, Mara Lefebvre, Wendy Bodenstab Lynch, Pete Mauney, Charles Steckler, and Ann Wolf. Their work ranges from Brown's metaphysical paintings and Ertz's chenille-stem evocations of moving water to Hutchinson's cut-paper Adirondack ecosystems, Lefebvre's nature-inspired Bijou series, and Mauney's time-and-light studies of a hidden natural world. Each artist feels a close connection to the fleeting presence of nature and attempts to capture it as a transcendental experience. Super-Natural marks the twelfth installment of Art at APL, a curated fine arts exhibition program at the Pine Hills Branch run in partnership with Opalka Gallery and funded by the Friends and Foundation of Albany Public Library. Begun in 2013, the program integrates professional artwork into the library's public spaces to enrich the visitor experience.
